Resources

This page is where I will put all of the resources and tools that can help you live a better life. You may have heard me mention one of them on my podcast ‘Shut Up, Brain‘ or on my YouTube channel because I have experience with all of the things on this page and I recommend them because they are awesome.  I’m going to update it as often as I can so don’t be surprised if things are added or removed from this list over time.

The Emperors Handbook by Marcus Aurelius

Sometimes called ‘meditations’, this is the book that I have read more than any other in my life. It is full of wisdom on every page. I often times just flip to a random page and start reading if I need a little inspiration or if I’m working through a tough problem. It’s a book by a Roman emperor named ‘Marcus Aurelius’ and the philosophy of stoicism. That philosophy is what the modern Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is based on.

Who should get this?

Get this if you are struggling with difficulties in life (anxiety, stress, fear) that arise because of false beliefs or bad habits and you want to see another way of living.

How to Stop Worrying and Start Living by Dale Carnegie

Although this book was published in 1948 the lessons in it are still just as applicable today. From tools on how to deal with worrying about the future (check out the ‘day tight compartments’ chapter) to how to be more motivated in your life, this is a book I try and re-read every few years. It is THAT good.

Who should get this?

Get this is you have anxiety that is ruining your life and you want a book full of great stories and valuable tools. Nothing in this book is a ‘silver bullet’ that cures anxiety, but I find myself coming back to the strategies presenting time and again when life gets stressful. Highly recommend.

The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck by Mark Manson

This books attention grabbing title sums up the message inside perfectly. How do you not care about a lot of the unimportant factors in life that way you can focus on what REALLY matters? That is the aim of this book and it’s one that I really enjoyed. So much so I even made a full podcast episode about it.

Who should get this?

Get this is you like your wisdom mixed with a dose of reality. This is a down to earth approach to some deeper zen concepts.

Zafu Meditation Pillow

I’ve been meditating for years and when I recently needed to update my meditation pillow I got this cute little Zafu seat from amazon. It’s full of buckwheat hulls which give it a firm support that doesn’t smoosh down too much. This makes it an ideal meditation cushion. It is my primary seat when I meditate. I got the orange color!

Who should get this?

Get this if you are looking for a comfortable seat to meditate in that will last for years.

Rhodia Notebook

When it comes to bullet journaling or just general notekeeping, I prefer Rhodia as my primary notebook. For a long time I used moleskine notebooks but when I switched to Rhodia I never looked back. The paper is smooth to write on and thick enough that ink doesn’t bleed through. I’m also a fan of the orange color (although they have it in black too if that’s more your thing).

Who should get this?

Get this is you need a solid notebook with high quality paper that is small enough to take with you on the go.
